Storyboards
Storyboards are often the start and soul of the visual story. Not only do the artworks need to be creative, but they need to move the story forward.
When creating storyboards, artists use the language of visual cues and devices to tell the story, while building up believable characters.
Composition, placement, viewpoint, distance, perspective and many other elements are used to set the scene for a believable concept, while mapping out what actions are needed to garner attention for the viewer.
Some storyboards can be very complex, and set the foundation for the layouts that serve as backgrounds in the final product. Others can be simple thumbnails to convey movement or quick scene changes, etc.
